Castel, Moshe

(b. 1909)
   Israeli painter. He was born in Jerusalem. He was a member of the New Horizons group of Israeli painters. Judaism and Israel were dominant themes in his art. He produced a stained-glass window for the synagogue of the SS Shalom in 1956. His later paintings are reminiscent of ancient steles, in which writing is incorporated into the subject-matter.
